Mission

Deliver solutions that will contribute to the sustainable control of neglected animal diseases, including zoonoses.

INAND will work on developing and enhancing capacity for the control of neglected animal diseases by defining the gaps in the current control strategies, facilitating the development of new or enhanced control tools and strategies if necessary, and enabling their implementation through selected partners.INAND will focus on developing and enhancing capacity aspects relevant to the control of neglected animal diseases, in partnership with local structures and systems.

 

Objectives

Main objective

To contribute to improving lives and livelihoods of poor and marginalised communities by:
  • Improving the control of neglected animal diseases that prevent small-scale, and poor and marginalised farmers from keeping livestock healthy and currently place a significant limitation on livelihoods and food production.
  • Contributing to the control of neglected zoonotic diseases that impact on human health particularly in poor communities.

Ancillary objectives

  • To map and characterize the neglected animal diseases of importance to poor and marginalised communities in order to better understand the needs and potential solutions.
  • To widen the availability and access to appropriate veterinary products by poor livestock keepers and marginalised communities within the context of the existing structures and systems in their countries and regions.
  • Ensuring that the optimal disease control and treatment strategies are appropriately implemented in the different settings.
